Hangin' Out

The other day the kids were watching a movie and eating graham crackers. I make them eat on the floor so they don't get crumbs on the couch. I thought the shot of Nathan's crossed ankles was especially cute! :)

Birthday Cakes

Over Labor Day weekend we went to Utah to visit my family. While we were there, we celebrated my sister Erin's and my dad's birthdays. As many of you who follow this blog may know, Blair loves to decorate cakes, and he has his own unique style. Also, it is a tradition in my family to decorate birthday cakes that fit the birthday person's personality in some way. Erin's cake says, "Have a Berry Jam Good Birthday." The jar of jam is called Mountain Berry Jam, and we buy it at Swiss Days every year. Once, Erin asked my mom, "Is this berry jam good?" My mom thought she said something else (is this very "darn" good), and it has been a joke ever since! Blair changed the label on the jam to say "Berry Jam Good." My dad loves hiking and the outdoors, so his cake is a hiking cake. The rocks are molded out of taffy, the terrain is graham cracker and oreo crumbs, and the lake is blue jell-o. He even talked the lady at Day's Market bakery into selling him the little trees! My husband is a cake-decorating genius!! :)
