Last week we went to Mirror Lake for some hiking, canoeing, and dutch oven cooking. The weather was beautiful, and we had a great time!

Anna got a new life jacket for our trip to the lake last week, and she loved it so much when she tried it on she never wanted to take it off. She wore it all evening while watching a movie, and she threw a huge fit when I took it off to go to bed. The next day she told me all day long that she couldn't wait to get in the boat with daddy and wear her new jacket.

Blair's Birthday

Blair's Scrabble cake. Not the most creative or beautiful cake ever, but at least it's his favorite boardgame!

Blair jokingly asked my parents to get him a turquoise bolo tie when they when to Philmont (a big scout camp in New Mexico) last month. They, of course, actually followed through with the request and presented it to him on his birthday.

Again, I am a few days behind. Blair's birthday was last week, and we were able to celebrate it with my family. He had a great day. Happy Birthday Blair!!! :)

Hiking Timp

A couple of weeks ago my dad and Blair, along with a few of my dad's employees, hiked Mount Timpanogos. Even though they could barely move afterwards, they had a great time!

Root Beer Cake

Here is a recipe for one of the best cakes ever (as requested by several of my friends on Facebook). You can substitute the root beer for pretty much whatever soda you want. I tried Cherry Dr. Pepper yesterday, and it was delicious! (Sorry there is no picture. The cake was gone before I could take one! )

Root Beer Cake (or any flavor soda you want!)

Ingredients:
1 yellow cake mix
1 small pkg. vanilla instant pudding
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
4 eggs
1 cup root beer
3/4 cup oil

Glaze:
2 cups powdered sugar
dash nutmeg
2 tbsp melted butter
dash salt
rootbeer (enough to make consistency smooth)

Mix all cake ingredients together. Pour into greased and floured bundt pan. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes. Turn cake over onto platter. Pour glaze over cake while still hot. Enjoy!

Anna's 3rd Birthday

These are over a week late, but here are a few pictures from Anna's 3rd birthday. Blair made her a Princess "P" cake from Super Why (if you have little kids you are probably familiar with this PBS series), and she got tons of great presents. She was so excited to celebrate her birthday at Grandma and Grandpa's house!
